Iris - Sword Lily
The iris does not require much maintenance.
With deciduous varieties, remove the dead leaves in the fall, so that next spring the way is clear for their fresh leaves to grow.
The leaves of the evergreen irises can be cut back to 6 inches (15 cm) in the fall, and the dead stems and leaves must be removed.
Certain iris varieties, such as the Iris Germanica, really have to be "tear" every few years to prevent them from growing out too much and the middle part from bearing flowers.
Bulbous plants can be harvested in the autumn, so that you can enrich other places in the garden with these colorful dancers.
